Vegas and the Grand Canyon

My husband had a conference in Vegas so we decided to head down the weekend before and drive to the Grand Canyon. Nether of us had ever seen it. We left rainy Seattle Friday evening and were looking forward to some sunshine in Nevada.

We spent the night at the Hoover Dam Lodge in Boulder City and after a quick stop Saturday morning at the Dam we headed to the Grand Canyon. On the way we had the best pit stop at Dunkies!

The Grand Canyon was amazing! The size is just incredible. We hiked the rim and had lunch at El Tovar. We spent Saturday night a Best Western a few miles from the canyon. On Sunday we went back to the canyon for about another 3 hour hike on the other side of the rim. It is beautiful and the weather was great.

We headed back to Vegas Sunday afternoon. We were staying at the Palazzo, which was beautiful. We had an amazing meal at Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill. And birthday pie at Buddy V’s restaurant (Cake Boss).

On Monday I walked the strip. I went in and out of different hotels. I loved all the fresh flowers at the Wynn. I also made a purchase at the M & M store. I have purchased items at all 5 locations. I’m not sure if I should be proud of that. I had lunch at Giada’s, which was a great italian sandwich. And spend a bit of time at the pool in the sun before heading back to rainy Seattle.
