My niece, Manami came for a visit last weekend. She had never been to Seattle or the PNW and I knew we were going to have a great time showing her around.
Saturday, our first stop was Pike’s Market. We got coffee at the original Starbucks, Ellenos yogurt, watched the fish throwing and saw the Gum Wall.
We then headed over to the EMP Museum. I have lived in Seattle over 3 years and I have never been here. It was great. It was not just about music but more about pop culture and had many interactive exhibits.
On Sunday we headed north to Vancouver, BC. Our first stop was the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Again a place I had not been to. The weather was rainy and cold, but they give you ponchos and it was fun. I would love to go back in the summer with better weather.
We went to the waterfront for lunch at Cactus Club Cafe and walked around a bit before heading back. On the way home we stopped at the Canada outlets and picked up a few things at Roots and candy at Walmart that we can not get in the states. We also picked up Nandos for the ride home.
On Monday we headed over to Fremont to visit the Troll and Gas Works Park. We also went on the Theo’s Factory tour. I had been to the store, but never on the tour. This was fun, and we learned a lot about how chocolate is made. There was also plenty of samples.
Do you have a favorite place to take family visiting from out of town?
